April 28, 2008Chicago Bears Draft...WTF?!
After having a day to reflect on the draft picks that my lowly Bears chose over the weekend, I'm left puzzled. If you have one of the worst offenses in the league and there are nothing but question marks surrounding your current two QB's wouldn't you be inclined to select one in the draft? I understand that this draft was a little light at the position, but seriously...can they be any worse that Grossman and Orton? At least the Packers figured it out and grabbed Brohm and Flynn now that they are Favre-less.
I was amazed that the Bears actually did the right thing by selecting Chris Williams with their 1st pick, but they should have found a way to trade up to get Joe Flacco. For now I guess I get to look forward in wasting another football season waiting for the Bears to finally get over their unwavering support for Rex Grossman. I don't know how much longer I can stomach being a Bear fan.
April 13, 2008We Bought A House
Julie and I finally found a house! After looking at close to 30 houses we finally found one in the Milwaukee burbs. The house is a nice little ranch complete with fenced in yard. We have some work to do with painting and such, but overall the house is ready to go. We close on June 16th witch is ironically my birthday. Happy birthday to me!
February 26, 2008MyDesign Award
So today I received an email from my web site's contact form stating that I won a design award for my web site design. I'm not exactly sure how they found the site, but it's cool that there might actually be a few people stopping by my little piece of the net. To MyDesign Award...thanks for the award!
January 10, 2008My Wife IS A Good Coach!
My wife, Julie, is currently going through her first year as Varsity Head Coach for Girls Basketball at Oak Creek High School and so far, it's been pretty amazing. The team is now through 10 games on the season and they have only lost once. The lone loss occurred in the first game of the year against, then ranked No.2 in State (WIAA Division 1), Milwaukee King High School with a score of 79-73. Since then her team has been rolling with a nine game winning streak. Her team is now ranked sixth in State (WIAA Division 1) according to the AP polls, seventh in the area according to the Janseville Gazette, fourth in the State according to MaxPreps.com and 350 in the Nation according to MaxPreps.com. Now maybe she can add a State Champ ring to her collection of NCAA Tourny and WNIT Rings. Keep up the good work hun!
January 9, 2008It's Been A While
So it's been quite a while since I updated my site. I've been pretty busy designing tee shirts for Julie's high school basketball team along with their posters and game programs. I've also been in charge of updating all the Preps web sites with stats and scores. It gets pretty busy being a coach's husband. I've also been practicing with the Milwaukee Bonecrushers. The Bonecrushers are a new indoor football team located in Milwaukee and are coached by Gilbert Brown; formerly of the Green Bay Packers. As the season inches closer, my free time continues to become less and less. I'm not sure when the next update will be, but I will try to make it sooner than last time.
October 8, 2007Proud Bears Fan!
Ahh...it's nice to have bragging rights for a couple weeks. While it's been extremely hard to watch my beloved Chicago Bears play this season last night certainly made me swell with pride. I'm not going to lie. I almost turned the game off a couple times during the first half, but the Bears finally showed up in the second half. It was also nice that someone told Ron Turner that they had Tight Ends on the roster and you can throw to someone other that Bernard Berrian. It's too bad that the Bears let the wrong Coordinator go this past off season. Maybe this off season they'll make the right move and fire Turner...oh...and pickup a franchise QB who's last name doesn't start with the letter "G". Here's to hope...CHEERS!
September 12, 2007The New iPod Touch
Last Wednesday Apple announced an update to the iPod line. Being the gigantic dork I am, I was really excited about this. I was so excited that I was constantly checking the iLounge web site to get the play by play of the announcement event. What was unveiled was EXACTLY what I was hoping for, an iPod with a bigger screen and WiFi. The MAJOR FLAW of this thing though is the hard drive. Seriously, when are they going to put one in? I don't understand the concept of making this ultra cool iPod with bigger and badder written all over it and giving it one of the smallest hard drives out there. I'm having a hard time managing with only 60 GB, I have no idea how I would manage just 16 GB. I guess time will tell if there will be a bigger version. Knowing me and my iPod fixation I will most likely get out there buy one of these things anyway. Damn two year cell phone contracts...I would much rather just buy an iPhone.
August 13, 2007Knee Is Good To GO
Well it's now been almost five weeks since I went under the knife for the second time in a year and I've already been OKed to go back to playing football. Again, the doctor was taken back by how fast the knee was responding. It's always nice for things to heal faster than expected. Now, with the help of my new knee brace, I should be able to FINNALLY get back on the field and play some football.
July 20, 2007Football Site Reloaded
As I recover from my second knee surgery in a year I thought I would finally do a long overdue redesign of my football site. Besides the fact that the old site wouldn't validate in anything, the design of it was pretty old and stale. The new site is a little more graphically pleasing and now features a Links section. I also went and cleaned up a few textual issues and added some new stuff to my actual profile. I would say the site is now more geared towards fans and enthusiasts rather than being a promotional marketing tool as it was before. Keep checking the football site for progress on my knee and my "comeback season" with the Racine Raiders.
July 5, 2007The Transformers Movie
The culmination of my being is finally here. Yes, they finally did it. They made a live action Transformers movie. I must say that I really overall enjoyed the movie. Don't get me wrong. There were things about the movie that bugged me a little bit, but I did like how a lot of the movie paid homage to the original series that I know and love. The part where Bobby Bolivia is trying to sell Sam Witwicky a yellow VW Bug and Bumblebee opens his door to damage it was a nice reference to the original series. This biggest thing that got me was hearing Peter Cullen's voice doing Optimus Prime again. The first time I saw I Optimus on screen I nearly shed a tear. Awesome. Just Awesome.
June 28, 2007Mmm...Apple
I finally did it! I came out of the Apple closet and bought an iMac. For those of you who know me this has been a long time coming. Back in college I used to show my hatred of Apple computers by referring to them as "sMacintoshes" or "sMacs". Now after some time of being part of the growing legion of iPod owners (yes, we have multiple iPods) I can finally say that I am now part of the Apple collective. (*audible sounds of cheering and patting on the back*) Now comes the hard part...getting all of my PC files, music and wife transferred over to the Mac. "...give me strength!"
June 21, 2007Going Back Under The Knife
It looks like I am going back under the knife once again for my left knee. For those who don't know, last August I had the ACL in my left knee reconstructed with a patellar graft and also had some meniscus tearing repaired. After talking with my NEW Orthopedic Surgeon it would appear that I have a common complication of an ACL reconstruction called a Cyclops Lesion and there is also some tearing of my Medial Meniscus that was either missed during the original surgery or is a new injury. So I'm going under the knife for an Arthroscopy (otherwise known as a Scope) on July 10th and hopefully I will finally have a chance to have a healthy knee and get a chance to play football effectively again. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!
April 30, 2007Have You Seen This Site?
Now that this site is up, running and been validated I have had a chance to submit it to some CSS web galleries. Apparently I went a little overboard and the site is popping up everywhere. Here is a small list of gallery sites where I have found my site: CSS Heaven, CSS Based, CSS Design Yorkshire, CSS Gallerie, CSS Mess, CSS Tux, CSS Galleries, The Daily Slurp, W3C Sites and Web Gallery - A Pub of dimit.it
April 29, 2007The Bears Finally Do Something Right
With the 31st pick in the 2007 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears select Greg Olsen, a Tight End that even Grossman can't miss. It's been a long time since I have agreed with what the Bears have done in the draft. I'm not 100% happy with all of this year's selections (I would have liked to see another QB), but I really can't complain. The Bears were able to get a TE that can take some pressure off of Desmond Clark and stretch the field in Greg Olsen. They found a DE that can replace Idonije in the rotation, so he can be moved inside where help is desperately needed in Dan Bazuin. They were able to find a "Lance Briggs like OLB" in Michael Okwo that can replace Lance's sorry ass when he's done crying about not being Brian Urlacher. Also, they got a steal in drafting RB Garrett Wolfe from NIU who reminded me at times of Barry Sanders when playing against Ohio State. I can't wait to see these guys in pads. I am now excited for the 2008 season. All the Bears need to do now is teach Rex Grossman how to take a snap from under center.
April 28, 2007My Puppy; Chewy
With months of negotiations behind us, my wife and I decided to finally get a puppy. The new member of the family is a Lab/Collie/German Shepard mix named Chewy. We really couldn't decide what to name him going through names like Blue, Nibbler and Pickles, but we figured Chewy fit the best because he reminds us of Chewbacca and he has a serious problem with chewing ANYTHING. I've never seen a dog enjoy running up and biting a person's shirtless stomach more than him. I guess that's one of the joys of having an eight week old dog.
