About The Designer

Welcome to my website. This website has been in the redesign stage for quite a while now, so it's nice to have it up and running...finally. Being that this is about me, I felt that I should add a section about myself so that people have a better understanding of who I am as a person and a designer.

I grew up in Southeastern Wisconsin playing football and sharpening my design senses. I attended high school at Badger High School located in scenic Lake Geneva, WI. In high school I was mainly known for playing football, always being in front of a computer, and getting used as a roadie for my friend's garage band, Willis.

After high school I went off to Lake Forest College to play football and learn Art. After about a year I learned that life and society revolves around knowledge, not football. After my great realization I made the decision to transfer into Valparaiso University. At Valpo I was able to get on the Deans List a few times while being a member of the Valparaiso University Web Design Staff, the Football team, and (briefly) the Track & Field team. I graduated from Valparaiso University in 2002 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree where my area of study was Graphic Design.

Now, while being a professional Graphic Designer I have a lot of fun working with conceptual ideas and watching them come to life right before my eyes. I am always eager and ready to attack a new challenge. While working at Valpo I had a chance to work with a really diverse group of people which helped me grow as a person and a professional. There was always an abundance of ideas flowing and strange off-topic conversations which made for an extremely creative and growth inducing environment.

After the Valpo experience ended I decided to try my hand at professional football. I spent just about three years traveling around and playing for various indoor football teams in what I affectionately call the ABC Leagues. It seems like every year there is a new indoor league popping up somewhere. Since that whole thing seemed to be going nowhere fast and with added pressure from my Finance (now wife) I decided to start using my brain and degree.

With football mostly behind me, my Finance (Julie) and I moved to Peru, Indiana where I went to work in a Print Shop. Here I learned a lot of life lessons including, but not limited to dealing with pressure, camaraderie with employees, self sufficiency and anger management. While the two years spent under that roof seemed like 20, I still wouldn't have had it any other way. It was a real learning, growing professional and personal experience. Some of those memories, good and bad, will last me a lifetime.

Towards the end of "The Peru Experience" Julie and I got married in Wausau, Wisconsin on June 17, 2006. A couple of months after we were married I landed a Web Design gig in Sussex, Wisconsin and away we went. I must admit it's nice to be back in the "Land of Cheese and Beer" where we are close to our families and where people actually talk like you. As we put the southern drawl behind us keep posted for the next chapter in what is beginning to sound more like a journal entry than an about section of a web site.
